
Under the amended Labour Law prevailing in Bangladesh, profit-making companies have to contribute five percent of their net profits to their participatory welfare funds as well as the government-formed workers’ welfare fund. In addition to sharing profits with the employees of PEBSAL on regular basis, on 1st September 2019, PEB Steel Alliance Limited had submitted a cheque of Tk. 2,219,349 to the Bangladesh Labor Welfare Foundation established under Labor & Employment Ministry of the Government of Bangladesh. The cheque was handed over to Dr. Anisul Awwal, DG, Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation at Ministry of labour and Employment by Mr. S M Ashfaqur Rahman, ACA, Head of Accounts and Finance of PEBSAL. The welfare fund maintained by the Government is currently being used as Financial Assistance to Workers, engaged with the professional and non-professional sectors of the country, for death, disability, diseases caused by industrial accidents and educational support for their children.
